Today’s devotional is reminding us that even when we do not see or hear God, He has never left your side. When reading today’s devotional I thought of the poem footprints. When we think He has left us here to suffer through all our struggles in life, in time we discover He was carrying us the entire time. How often do we realize our shallow hearts have been blind to what Christ has been doing in our lives? For me I say with shame, it is usually long after it is over and the blessing from the struggle, is around me that I have the ah hah moment. Every time I just want to shake myself into awareness. I look at all that time I was being held by God’s personal touch in my life, and wasn’t even aware that my Heavenly Father was carrying me. Yes hind site is 20/20 as they say, but if we can see even a portion of what God is doing while enduring, we will see how truly blessed we are. I was recently reminded of when my family had endured a fire. Coming close to losing my son as he ran up the stairs in fear. We lost everything yes, but through the experience I saw God give us even more than we had before. I saw a more than generous side of co workers, and friends. Yes there were personal things that were lost, but my God, the Creator of this universe, put together a plan to give us every thing we could possibly use and more. Then I stop and think of the times that I was in dangerous situiations, and God protected me from harm. We all have those memories of that time when we were scared and begged God to help us through. Had He not loved us and protected us, I hate to imagine what could have happened. We are naturally sinful, selfish creatures and they only way to have goodness in our lives is to allow God in. Yes there are those people out there who think they aren’t a bad person, they don’t lie, cheat, or steal, but even those very nice people are not without sin. They might fear the attention walking down that isle to an alter call will give them. With all that He has done for us, can’t we give Him that few moments? It takes a real relationship with God to make it to Heaven. Every relationship requires sacrifice from both sides, we have all seen what God did for us by allowing His son to suffer for our sins, but ask yourself what have you done for God? We aren’t entitled to anything, so everything we have is a gift from Him. I can easily take inventory of the many blessings and gifts that He has given me. From my eyes wide open view, I see I am blessed beyond measure.
