Today’s devotional is teaching us that the best source to learn about God is from Him and His Word. When the teaching comes from man, it can be swayed with their particular beliefs, and opinions, known or even unknown to them. Man is teaching what He believes to be true. Even pure at heart, they might misunderstand a scripture. Or it reaches a part of them that you might not have encountered, so you receive it completely different. This is why it is so important for us to read the Word directly. God can tell you directly what He wants you to know from a particular lesson. When only the words of mankind teaches others, the mistakes in their life can dull your ear to their words. God is perfect and Christ has no sin, so they can teach with no prejudices, or tainted viewpoints. There is no agenda other than that from our Heavenly Father.
We must also be aware and not let something we are doing in service to Him, get in the way of our regular commune and continued learning from the Lord. Our time spent with God must have the highest priority, we never stop learning from God. The same verse can direct a well learned scholar differently each time they study a verse, depending on what God is trying to show us at that time.
This does not say we don’t, or will not benefit from learning from our scholars, it simply let’s us know we can’t just learn about God from others. We need to spend time in His Word reading and studying God’s Word and the reason for His ever loving and giving His heart. Certainly, we would be lost without daily input so that we can grow into the best options He has planned in our lives.
