Today’s devotional is reminding us to stay focused on God and Godly matters. We are to be about His work, that is our purpose on this earth. Keeping ourselves focused on being with our Father in Heaven, and what we can do to help His cause in any way. Keeping our eye on the real prize. Mankind has a habit of taking what God gave us and using it for self. If God made you an incredible athlete, then we are not to spend all our time and focus on practicing to be the top in a field, but we must remember at all times that is but a blink compared to Eternity. We have to plan for all time. Our relationship with God will last forever and should be our main focus and concern always. Now if your God given talent can bring attention to God, that is amazing and good. We should spend our time focused on Godly matters and not competition with others, for it truly brings you nothing worthy, and can easily become a hazard to your time and attention being given to the Father. We have all heard the saying that “where your attention is, there is your treasure.” I am not saying you can’t enjoy activities or games that are physical, what I am saying here is that we can’t let it become more important than our great commission from God above. We have to protect ourselves from distractions that alone can be innocent, but when all your time and energy are being spent focused there, then it is no longer innocent, but instead a way for evil to creep into your heart.  God gives us things to enjoy, we just have to keep ourselves in check and stay focused on God and Godly matters. That is where our true treasure is.
