Today’s devotional is teaching us about how to handle depression, and lack of self esteem. I don’t know about you but I truly needed this reminder that our earthly body is nothing but a container for our soul. As simple as an iron, or tin cup, as elaborate as an elegant vase, it matters absolutely not where it all really matters, when the chips are down and the finish line is upon us. God prefers the lowly humble cup, over the elaborately decorated vase. There is a reason so plain to see, God only cares about your heart. If you spend all your time worrying about what you look like on the outside, you aren’t spending your time working on your inside. We can’t let the fact that we don’t have people fawning all over us keep us from our greatest job, which is to spread the word of Christ. That is our purpose on this earth. There are many of us who have health problems that might keep us from doing all that we might want to do. What this tells us is that we have to regroup, pray, and discover what we still can do for our Father. I know it can be challenging at times, I certainly have been through this stage of depression, but God knew what was going on with your body, and if He didn’t heal you back to your former self, it is because he gave you a promotion to a supervisory role. You can watch others and where you see a need, put in a request for more aid by simply talking to the Father. It isn’t our place to judge others, truly it is our place to be the best we can be, with what we have. When we feel ourselves getting depressed over our ability to do what we used to, we have to stop and remind ourselves our physical body is just that cup, what matters is our heart. We still can serve a purpose and there is no greater need in our world today, than for people to be praying for those in authority. Even more so for people who you don’t agree with their actions. We don’t have the power to change them or their actions, but God does. Never feel you are less important than anyone else, because as long as you are still on this earth, there is a great purpose that only you can fulfill. Our God, doesn’t make junk.
