Today’s devotional is teaching us about talking with God in our relationship. Having the type of relationship with God where we make sure there is time for God above all. I sit here saying this and I am late getting my blog done today as I was editing a book. Over half way done now, but the time I have with God each day is very important to me. I know God gives me what I need to hear to be the best me I can be that day. This is why I can read the same devotional and get something totally different out of it each time. God put this devotional in my path to lead and guide me. To help me to better understand the word and His plan for me. I have talked before about how important it is for me to feel useful now that I am bed bound and unable to do much for myself any more. I do absolutely know there is a reason for the pain I live with daily. It keeps me focused on God and His will for my life. It allows me time to study my devotional and share it with my friends. I am by no means under the impression that I have all the answers, or know more about God than anyone else, I simply try to share what I am learning that day with the people I love and care about. We all benefit more when we can gather with like minded Christians for fellowship and study of the Word.
We must be aware though that our tongues are a very small portion of our body, yet it causes more pain and destruction than the rest. We really need to spend more time listening, than talking. Meet with your friend and focus on what is going on in their life. What might you be able to pray about with, or for, them this week. We must be cautious to not let request for prayers be a way to gossip about other people’s lives. We can ask for unspoken prayers for a family without knowing all the specifics of their business. When you do know, make sure it is true information you are passing on with the intent on praying about a specific situation. Otherwise we just need to keep that prayer request in our mind, not our mouth. When we take the time to listen to others they feel your desire to help them and it allows God to use you to bring them the love and prayers that they might need. Share information that aids others, never what destroys others. Edification is mentioned several times in the Word. Making someone else feel needed, special, important, or good at their job or hobby gives them the encouraging boost they need to hear when they are having a bad day. Reminding them that someone does notice what they are doing and they matter. That bit of kindness goes such a long way. If just passing out compliments is all you are able to do, and pray, then you are a mighty warrior for the Lord.
