Today’s devotional is teaching us about a hunger for the Word of God. Just as our bodies need food to eat to maintain our strength, so too do our minds need constant filling of the Word. If we could just be as hungry for the Word as we get for food. Even those of us who get antsy or frustrated when we go past meal time, our mind should crave learning more about God and His will for our lives. Every time you read a scripture it will teach you something new. Depending on what is going on in your life at that moment. What you might have heard or seen that day. God makes it all so new. I pray personally for a hunger of His Word every day. I know it is hard to find time in this secular world to make God your priority. There are so many things vying for our attention and the companies who do marketing really know how to entice our minds with a taste for their products. Nothing should mean more to us than our desire to be close to our Lord and follow His will for our lives. We know that He only wants the best for us and is the only thing in your life that truly has your best interest at heart. Everything else has selfish desires, or craves the power. God does admit He is a jealous God and He wants nothing to mean more to us than He does. Knowing that He wants happiness and a good future for you is reason to follow Him, but He went further and sacrificed His only Child, so that we can be forgiven of our sins. Not saying you have an intentional desire for evil, just that mankind is born of sin and so is lost from birth. To have an opportunity to have your existence be forever in Heaven, we must except Christ as our Savior. He suffered already for your sins. He already paid the price for your wrong doings. No one, no matter how good a person they are, could ever be sin free and be able to make it without Christ. We aren’t capable and why should we worry or fret about it because Christ sacrificed Himself long before you were born. God planned our opportunities before we were conceived and had our path to Eternity in Heaven with Him all set. Learning His Word is a great benefit and it helps you to better understand His plan. Set aside that time in your life. Commit some time in your day to learn more about our creator. Your questions will be answered and your knowledge will help you keep your priorities in line. I suggest in the new testament the letters that Paul wrote to the early churches, as they will give you great guidance for your life.
