Today’s devotional is teaching us about how our relationship with God should be constantly fed and not just given a feast once a week. It is similar to charging a battery. We can’t expect our cellphone to be charged then last a whole week. It must be maintained to keep a charge. In that same way, our relationship with God needs daily attention and food. How many times have we been to a revival at the church and heard a message that so moved us that we thought our lives were forever different. Just as we thought the same when we first gave our heart to Christ. We were on fire for God and knew our life was different, but over time we begin to lose that excitement and go dormant if we aren’t feeding the Christian heart we have been given. Just as your body needs food daily to be healthy, so does our spiritual body. We need to read, study, learn, and hear everything we can get, so that we can be the optimal self for our Father. He doesn’t scrimp on the blessings that He gives us, why can’t we at least give Him a bit of time every day, so we can learn more about Him. If we continue to pull away from situations that could bring us closer to God, we are literally cheating ourselves from the blessing of knowing what it is like to have a close relationship. You are so much more aware of all He is doing in your everyday life when you are connected by a constant current, rather than a battery that will wear down and weaken over time. I have heard pastors say that Sunday worship is like filling up your gas tank for the week. That would leave you on fumes by the end of the week, and it would be much more difficult to turn away from the temptation of sin. Reading a devotional, or spending some time in the Word daily really makes a drastic difference in your walk. I challenge you to try it, and you will see how much closer you feel to God, and how you hear things during your week that make a huge difference in how you view things. When you limit your time to Godly matters, you cheat yourself out of many blessings. God wants the best for you and so He craves to be a part of your daily life, not just an hr on your weekend. Just envision how much more He can do in your life when you allow Him in.
